Recently I went to a local showing of The Imitation Game directed by Morten Tyldum. I didn’t really know what to expect but I did know the brief story line.
The film is based on the true story of a British mathematician called Alan Turing and the story of how he with a group of other puzzle solvers crack the Nazi German code of Enigma during World War II. The film tells the untold tale of Turing including him being put under presser to keep his sexuality as a secret because during his time it was illegal to be a homosexual.
If you want to know more about the real life of Alan Turning you could google it and you will find a lot of really interesting information. Also the film was inspired by a book called Alan Turing : The Enigma. I personally haven’t read it but it goes in more depth of Turing life.
I really enjoyed this film. I was amazed by how Benedict Cumberbatch managed to portray the character of Alan Turing. I was slightly nervous that I would feel like I was watching a film with Sherlock Holmes in it as I see Cumberbatch as Sherlock but I didn’t even think of the detective during the whole film! The acting in The Imitation Game is incredible and I was really, really impressed. I hadn’t read any other reviews before seeing it and I don’t know what everyone else is saying about it. But if you want to see the incredible story of a maths genius who is pushed to the limit multiple times then watch this.
